Welcome to Central Elementary School!Rebecca Littmann

Central School serves a population of approximately 500 children (kindergarten through fourth grade) who reside in the eastern portion of Wilmette.  Students are friendly, respectful, and enthusiastic about learning.  Most children enter kindergarten with two years of pre-school and demonstrate high levels of “readiness” to learn.

The parents of our students expect quality education for their children.  They value the school's commitment to meeting the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of children.  Central parents monitor their children's progress and communicate openly with school personnel.  Embracing the school’s mission to “prepare students for a rapidly changing and challenging future by developing intelligence that is both academic and character-centered,” students and parents join with teachers and administrators to form strong home-school partnerships.  Our PTA has an active Executive Committee that provides leadership to a Board of over 40 committees or positions including Art Awareness, Book Fair, Civics and Safety, and Environmental Awareness.

Central staff members are life-long learners who participate in professional development and collaborative planning.  Many staff members have advanced degrees and certificates with many years of teaching experience.  Our staff is trained in differentiated instruction that is enriched by technology and the arts.   Within the building, we offer a team of related arts teachers (PE, library, music, art, technology, Spanish).  We also have learning behavior specialists, speech pathologists, a school psychologist, an occupational therapist, a social worker, a differentiation support teacher, reading teachers, and English language teachers.  These “specialists” ensure that we are meeting the needs of all the children.

Here at Central, we welcome you as a partner in your child’s education.  Your contributions to your child’s education at home and at school are sincerely valued and greatly appreciated.

Warmest Regards Always,

Rebecca Littmann, Principal

Taylor HarveyDear Central Families,

I am thrilled to be the new full-time Assistant Principal for this academic year! Some of you may know me from my previous roles at Central as a behavior intervention specialist and student services coordinator. Through these roles, I built relationships with students, staff and families. I am ecstatic to continue fostering these relationships with the entire central family community and make Central my home!

I first received my teaching license from Illinois State University in special education. I then began my teaching career right here in Wilmette at Highcrest Middle School. Over the last 13 years in Wilmette, I have supported students with a wide range of abilities and provided coaching support to our staff district wide. Not only did I start my career in Wilmette, I also attended school in Wilmette! My family moved to Wilmette when I was in second grade. I attended McKenzie, Highcrest, Wilmette Junior High, and then graduated high school at New Trier. More recently I received my Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the Northeastern University.

I look forward to meeting and working with each of you and the Central community. I am excited for the opportunity to work alongside the Wilmette community in this new capacity. The educational experiences and services we provide our students are something to be proud of and I am overjoyed to continue supporting the teachers, students, and parents in this new role! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations you may have. Thank you for your trust, partnership, and opportunity to work with your family.
