Administrators

Welcome to Central Elementary School!Rebecca Littmann

Central School serves a population of approximately 500 children (kindergarten through fourth grade) who reside in the eastern portion of Wilmette.  Students are friendly, respectful, and enthusiastic about learning.  Most children enter kindergarten with two years of pre-school and demonstrate high levels of “readiness” to learn.

The parents of our students expect quality education for their children.  They value the school's commitment to meeting the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of children.  Central parents monitor their children's progress and communicate openly with school personnel.  Embracing the school’s mission to “prepare students for a rapidly changing and challenging future by developing intelligence that is both academic and character-centered,” students and parents join with teachers and administrators to form strong home-school partnerships.  Our PTA has an active Executive Committee that provides leadership to a Board of over 40 committees or positions including Art Awareness, Book Fair, Civics and Safety, and Environmental Awareness.

Central staff members are life-long learners who participate in professional development and collaborative planning.  Many staff members have advanced degrees and certificates with many years of teaching experience.  Our staff is trained in differentiated instruction that is enriched by technology and the arts.   Within the building, we offer a team of related arts teachers (PE, library, music, art, technology, Spanish).  We also have learning behavior specialists, speech pathologists, a school psychologist, an occupational therapist, a social worker, a differentiation support teacher, reading teachers, and English language teachers.  These “specialists” ensure that we are meeting the needs of all the children.

Here at Central, we welcome you as a partner in your child’s education.  Your contributions to your child’s education at home and at school are sincerely valued and greatly appreciated.

Warmest Regards Always,

Becky

Katherine MichauI am thrilled to join the D39 and Central Fox family as Assistant Principal. Prior to joining the team, I spent 12 years in Chicago Public Schools as a teacher, grade level team lead, and school administrator. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Principal at Bridge Middle School for two and a half years. Before moving into administration, I taught 7th and 8th grade literacy and was the Middle School Coordinator at Alcott College Prep in Lincoln Park, as well as a teacher representative for the Local School Council. I have been a middle school literacy and diverse learner teacher at other CPS schools in Rogers Park, North Lawndale, Old Irving Park, Englewood, and Little Village.

I am originally from Quincy, IL. I earned my Bachelor's in Middle Level Education from Illinois State University where I was also a member of the swim team- Go Redbirds! I moved to Chicago in 2009 before I began student teaching in Little Village. I also have a Masters in Special Education from University of St. Francis and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. While the bulk of my teaching experience has been in intermediate grades and middle school, I am well-versed in foundational literacy skills through my Wilson Reading Level 1 certification.

I have a passion for social emotional learning and mastery-based grading and rubric development. I strive everyday to embody an antiracist educator by examining my own implicit biases. I crave collaboration and thoroughly enjoy being a thought-partner with teachers, families, and students when it comes to envisioning creative solutions for unique issues.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Dan, a special education teacher, our two sons Benjamin (3.5) and Andrew (1) and our dog Marie (10). You can catch us outside in the backyard or on frequent walks through our neighborhood.

I look forward to connecting with all of our Central students and their families.
