Administrators

Welcome to Central Elementary School!Rebecca Littmann

Central School serves a population of approximately 500 children (kindergarten through fourth grade) who reside in the eastern portion of Wilmette.  Students are friendly, respectful, and enthusiastic about learning.  Most children enter kindergarten with two years of pre-school and demonstrate high levels of “readiness” to learn.

The parents of our students expect quality education for their children.  They value the school's commitment to meeting the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of children.  Central parents monitor their children's progress and communicate openly with school personnel.  Embracing the school’s mission to “prepare students for a rapidly changing and challenging future by developing intelligence that is both academic and character-centered,” students and parents join with teachers and administrators to form strong home-school partnerships.  Our PTA has an active Executive Committee that provides leadership to a Board of over 40 committees or positions including Art Awareness, Book Fair, Civics and Safety, and Environmental Awareness.

Central staff members are life-long learners who participate in professional development and collaborative planning.  Many staff members have advanced degrees and certificates with many years of teaching experience.  Our staff is trained in differentiated instruction that is enriched by technology and the arts.   Within the building, we offer a team of related arts teachers (PE, library, music, art, technology, Spanish).  We also have learning behavior specialists, speech pathologists, a school psychologist, an occupational therapist, a social worker, a differentiation support teacher, reading teachers, and English language teachers.  These “specialists” ensure that we are meeting the needs of all the children.

Here at Central, we welcome you as a partner in your child’s education.  Your contributions to your child’s education at home and at school are sincerely valued and greatly appreciated.

Warmest Regards Always,

Becky

Dear Central families,Harper-Kelly

I am thrilled to become the newest Assistant Principal at Central Elementary!  I look forward to working with all of you and being a part of a thriving, active school community!  I love forming partnerships with students and their families to ensure every student grows and shares their uniqueness every day in our classrooms.

I have my Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northern Illinois University.  I worked as a reporter in Peoria for a while but felt it wasn’t “filling my bucket”.  I moved to the Chicagoland area, spent time volunteering in a 4th grade classroom and found my love and passion!  I have a Master’s degree from National-Louis University, taught for 12 years at all different levels and subject areas and then pursued my Education Specialist degree in Administrative Leadership, also from National-Louis.  My administrative experience includes being the Director of Bilingual Services for West Northfield School District 31 for five years and most recently, the Principal of Hawthorne Early Learning Center in Wheeling School District 21 for three years.  I loved my time as an Early Childhood Principal but was excited about the opportunity to get back to my first love of K-4 students.

Outside of work, I enjoy paddleboarding, yoga, reading and I’m attempting to get back to running after a knee injury sidelined me for a bit! I am a lifelong Cubs fan and will Fly the W at my house, every chance I get!   I have a daughter who will be a Freshman this Fall at Colorado State in Ft. Collins and a son who will be a Sophomore in high school.  I can’t wait to start getting to know all of you and becoming a part of the Central Fox Family!  Thank you for sharing your students with me and I look forward to the celebrations ahead!

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have.

Your partner in education,

Holly Harper-Kelly
